Brokenness - Pt 2
Part 2 of praying Psalm 51
Psalm 51:10–17 (ESV)
10 Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me.
11 Cast me not away from your presence, and take not your Holy Spirit from me.
12 Restore to me the joy of your salvation, and uphold me with a willing spirit.
13 Then I will teach transgressors your ways, and sinners will return to you.
14 Deliver me from bloodguiltiness, O God, O God of my salvation, and my tongue will sing aloud of your righteousness.
15 O Lord, open my lips, and my mouth will declare your praise.
16 For you will not delight in sacrifice, or I would give it; you will not be pleased with a burnt offering.
17 The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise.
Dear Lord God, please create in me a clean heart, a new heart, and please renew a right spirit within me, a steadfast and loyal spirit within me Lord. Please don’t allow me to be separated from your presence Lord, and please don’t allow me to grieve your Holy Spirit. Don’t allow my sin to separate me from you Lord. keep me close to you Lord, pull me closer to you Lord. Restore the joy of your salvation to me, and uphold me with a willing spirit, a willingness to obey you, to stay close to you, to serve you alone. Then Lord, then I will be able to be used by you, transgressors will learn about you, and sinners will be returned to you. Please Lord, keep me in that place where I can be truly used by you.
Deliver me from my sin God, and I will sing out loud of your righteousness. I will open my mouth and declare your praises Lord, always. But for any of that to happen, I’ve got to be right with you, my heart must be clean, and my spirit must be right. I’ve got to rest in your presence, and be constantly filled with your Holy Spirit.
For that to happen Lord, you don’t ask for a sacrifice, or I would give it. No burnt offering will do. But the sacrifices you accept God are the sacrifices a broken spirit, a broken and contrite heart, O God, these you will not despise.
Lead me to brokenness Lord. Teach me the Blessing of Brokenness. Please keep me close to you always Jesus, for your Name’s sake, amen.
